What is Verbit?

Verbit is a technology company that specializes in transcription and captioning services. They offer a platform that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning along with the efforts and expertise of five thousand expert human transcribers to transcribe audio and video content accurately and efficiently to meet the standards of their clients. Verbit is actively recruiting home-based freelance transcribers who can listen to audio and video files, and type them into text. So if you fit the description then Verbit might be the one for you.

How Does Verbit Work?

Before you join Verbit as a transcriptionist, it is advisable to take their practice tests. These tests give you a fair idea of what to expect when you start working on the platform and they can be taken a countless number of times until you feel confident enough to do the real tests. You can then go ahead and create your account.

Upon your account creation, youโ€™ll be required to take 2 onboarding transcription tests. It is very essential to go over their guidelines to know how to go about the transcription. It is also important to go through the instructions they send you via email so you donโ€™t encounter any difficulties during the onboarding process. These tests will determine your future on Verbit (whether you will be accepted onto the platform or not).

Verbit will require you to complete an online typing test. When you pass this test, they are going to send you all the resources you will need to start working on the platform

Is Verbit Legit?

Yes, Verbit is legit and there are numerous reviews and reports of transcribers on the platform getting paid for their work done. Although getting approval to work on the platform has been tough in the past few years, I’m quite sure it has gotten better since they limited applicants to the United Kingdom.

Final Thoughts

If you live in the UK, thereโ€™s no harm in giving Verbit a try. There is no minimum work requirement on Verbit, you are free to decide how much to take on and be paid for each minute of audio that you type. You can work as many part-time hours a week from the comfort of your home as you wish, unlike many transcription companies.

I decided to research further on peopleโ€™s experience on the platform and based on the reports I have seen, there are complaints of there not being enough files to transcribe but that was during the period when the company accepted transcribers from across the globe, Since applicants are now limited to the UK, I canโ€™t tell if the story is different now. Verbit also offers Notetaking and Proofreading jobs so if transcription is not for you, you can consider checking these two out.
